Position Summary
The Director of Engineering is responsible for leading the engineering organization in the design, development, and continuous improvement of recreational vehicles and related products. This leader will oversee engineering strategy, product development, and engineering operations while partnering with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and executive leadership to deliver innovative, high-quality products that support the company's growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the engineering team.
- Oversee new product development from concept through production.
- Drive product innovation, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support manufacturing through process and product improvements.
- Collaborate with Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales on cross-functional initiatives.
- Ensure engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs) are accurate and up to date.
- Manage engineering projects, budgets, and timelines.
- Evaluate new materials, technologies, and manufacturing methods.
- Resolve technical and production challenges.
- Ensure products meet applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
- Develop engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
- Present engineering updates and strategic initiatives to executive leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
- 10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 5 years of engineering leadership experience.
- Experience leading new product development and engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and product design.
- Experience with CAD software and engineering documentation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Business Administration (MBA).
- Experience in RV, automotive, transportation, marine, or other complex manufacturing environments.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
