Position details:
20-25 hours a week
Position runs late August-mid/late June. Summer positions available.
Must be available Mon-Thurs 8:30 am-1:15pm
Program description: Turn Back Time is a nonprofit helping individuals to recognize nature’s ability to teach and heal. Our EEC licensed preschool program runs from September to June in all weather conditions. We are a cross between a forest kindergarten, a nature preschool, and a farm education program. As a rule we spend more than 75% of our day outside. Turn Back Time sees unstructured outdoor play as its main vehicle for teaching. We are an integrated program, giving children with special needs an opportunity to interact with peers in a supportive environment. The natural setting of the farm is a great equalizer because in nature children are not constrained by any diagnosis, disorder, shape, size or age.
Responsibilities:
Direct care of children in our nature-based setting
Support Lead Teacher in planning and implementing nature-based activities
Creates classroom management expectations to help keep the flow going during group activities.
Manage classroom behaviors
Document programming through photography and upload to parent app
Establish and maintain relationships with other staff, families and the community
Attend community events held on the farm
Organization/clean up/maintaining classroom order
Candidates must be available for staff meetings, community events and able to work school vacations in Feb/April
Skills:
Early childhood Teacher Certified
Must be resilient, comfortable with being outdoors in all weather majority of day
Nature preschool/forest kindergarten experience a plus, not necessary
First aid/CPR certified
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
