What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chiller Refrigeration Assembler & Fabricator position at Turmoil Chillers?
Job Summary
The Chiller Refrigeration Assembler & Fabricator is responsible for building, piping, and testing high-efficiency industrial process water chillers according to precise custom specifications. This position requires blending physical structural assembly with precise refrigeration fabrication—specifically utilizing torch brazing and soldering to configure closed-loop cooling networks. The ideal candidate ensures all mechanical infrastructure adheres strictly to engineering blueprints and quality standards before system charging.
Core Responsibilities
- System Layout & Fabrication: Read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints, piping diagrams, and schematics to determine exact structural component placement.
- Refrigeration Piping: Measure, cut, thread, bend, and align heavy-gauge copper and stainless-steel piping networks.
- Torch Brazing & Soldering: Perform high-quality leak-proof torch brazing, silver soldering, and joint fabrication within a fast-paced production environment.
- Component Integration: Mechanically mount and align process infrastructure including heavy-duty scroll compressors, evaporators, fluid pumps, expansion valves, and holding reservoirs onto the structural frame.
- Quality & Pressure Diagnostics: Conduct rigorous spot checks and pressure testing (using nitrogen or vacuum systems) to diagnose structural integrity and prevent refrigerant leaks.
- Safety compliance: Maintain an organized workstation, wear mandatory PPE, and safely handle tools, torches, and pressurized gases.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 1–3 years of technical assembly experience in a commercial manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on HVAC, plumbing, or industrial equipment layout.
- Technical Skill: Demonstrated proficiency in torch brazing and soldering copper-to-copper and copper-to-brass joints.
- Blueprint Literacy: Proven ability to accurately navigate and construct systems directly from structural blueprints, plumbing layouts, or flow diagrams.
- Physical Dexterity: Mastery over common assembly apparatuses, including power equipment, hand tools, pipe cutters, and pressure gauges.
Preferred (But Not Required) Assets
- Familiarity with industrial electrical control panels or basic wiring layout
