What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Forklift Operator position at TURLEY INTERNATIONAL RESOURCES?
The Shipping and Receiving Forklift Operator is responsible for loading and unloading goods from trucks, ensuring that materials are safely transported within the warehouse. This position uses forklifts to move inventory to designated storage areas or staging zones for shipment. Additionally, they assist with maintaining inventory accuracy, checking for damages, and organizing shipments to meet delivery schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Materials Transport
- Safely operates a forklift to load and unload materials or products according to company protocols.
- Moves items to designated storage locations, ensuring proper organization and inventory control; assist with cycle counting and taking stock.
- Assists in preparing orders for shipment by picking, packing, and labelling items, shrink wrapping and ensuring accuracy of shipping documents.
- Inspect goods for damage during loading, unloading or while moving within the warehouse and report any discrepancies or issues.
- Transports raw materials, finished goods, or equipment to and from various locations within the facility, ensuring proper handling and care to avoid damage.
- Ensure stock is rotated properly to have older stock items shipped first.
Safety and Maintenance
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including storage racks and aisles, to ensure safety and efficient workflow.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines for operating forklifts and handling materials to minimize workplace accidents or injuries.
- Inspect equipment as required by the company.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with shipping/receiving clerk, warehouse managers, and other team members to ensure smooth and efficient warehouse operations.
- All other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES
EXPERIENCE
- 1-3 years of forklift experience, preferably in a warehouse environment.
