Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Operating Room team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in surgical nursing and be proficient in various medical procedures. This role requires excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgery by conducting pre-operative assessments and ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
- Assist the surgical team during operations by providing necessary instruments and supplies, as well as maintaining a sterile environment.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and respond to any changes in their condition during surgery.
- Administer medications and perform interventions as needed, including airway management and gastric lavage.
- Document patient care accurately in electronic health records using systems such as Epic.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, including suture care and managing potential complications.
- Provide support for patients with disabilities, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the surgical process.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Experience in an operating room setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of ICD-9 coding is a plus.
- Familiarity with medical imaging techniques relevant to surgical procedures.
- Experience working with geriatric populations is beneficial.
- Strong skills in airway management and suture techniques are essential.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities, ensuring inclusive care practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate effective collaboration within the healthcare team.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards of nursing practice.
