This role is considered Safety Critical at Turkey Hill. In order to ensure safety for all of our associates, this role will have a zero tolerance policy when returning a positive drug screen, regardless of Medical Marijuana card holding status.

The QA Technician makes an impact by –
- Maintain the integrity of the quality system.
- Monitor and execute documentation, inspections, and testing in accordance with quality system and Master Batch Records.
- Monitor and test quality attributes of raw materials ensuring conformance to specifications and critical control points.
- Conduct all pre-operations, in-process and post-operations testing, inspections, and documentation.
- Monitor and test quality attributes during the manufacturing of frozen dessert processing operations ensuring conformance to specifications and critical control points.
- Execute the testing and documentation required for positive release of raw materials and finished goods.
- Participate in food safety audits and preventive and corrective actions.
- Maintain central filing ensuring all department records are complete and transferred to central filing as required.
- Execute the environmental controls program.
- Support the operations team’s efforts and provide technical assistance with inspections and sanitation control.
- Support the supply chain team efforts and provide accurate timely feedback related to material quality issues.
- Support the safety team’s efforts and provide technical assistance with inspections and chemical control.
- Develop and maintain positive employee relations.
- Openly participate in meetings with corporate and local management.
- Keep management informed of developments as they occur.
- Be engaged in the day-to-day running of the business by performing tasks beyond normal/baseline job responsibilities, participating in team or business improvement meetings and initiatives positioned toward improving business results.
- Associate’s degree in food science or a related field or at least three years of experience as a quality assurance technician
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must work in a team environment
- Maintain adherence to work hours scheduled specifically starting, ending, lunch and break schedules
- Perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations and safety guidelines
- Be accountable to the Turkey Hill Food Safety and Quality Principles
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Demonstrated knowledge of food laboratory activities and COA programs
- Demonstrated knowledge of food safety, line, cGMP and SQF audits
- Demonstrated knowledge of food manufacturing and packaging processes and technology
- Demonstrated ability to execute safe work practices and behaviors and lead others to do the same
- Demonstrated leadership interest and ability to work effectively to motivate others and elicit work output
- Demonstrated ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Demonstrated ability to work well with all levels of personnel individually or in a team environment and ability to interface and communicate with production line workers, area managers, and customers
- Demonstrated willingness to work any shift, weekends and holidays
- Demonstrated willingness to adhere to cGMP requirements and lead others to do the same

- The employee is required to talk and/or hear in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are high (PPE required).
- The employee is required to wear mandated PPE based on assigned job area.
- The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an manufacturing environment for 8 hours.
- The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs, and where applicable and when necessary, to perform various job-related tasks.
- Must be able to position self to move, reach with arms/hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to perform various job-related tasks.
- The employee must be able to inspect all job-related equipment (office or floor) to ensure it is in good working condition prior to use. Must be able to use hands/fingers to handle (or feel) to operate various types of office equipment.
- Must be able to operate all job-related equipment (powered, hand or office) as required.
- Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and adjust focus.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and/or push/pull 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Must be able to work in -25 atmospheres.
