Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety and presentation.
Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry.
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality, adhering to food safety standards.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to plan menus that highlight seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area.
- Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and food handling practices.
- Assist in catering events as needed, providing exceptional service to guests.
- Uphold fine dining standards in food presentation and customer service.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the culinary field.
- Strong culinary skills with expertise in knife skills, food preparation, and cooking techniques.
- Experience in fine dining establishments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for handling food.
- Previous experience in menu planning and catering is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively within the kitchen environment.
