Mobile Repair Turf Equipment Technician

Turf Star Western (TSW) is seeking a Mobile Equipment Technician to join our team based out of our Spokane, WA facility!

This job involves diagnosing and performing various mechanical and maintenance tasks on commercial and contractor products in Central/Eastern Washington. These tasks range from small engine overhaul, gas and diesel engine maintenance, and hydraulic system repairs to welding and minor painting. Additionally, this position provides assistance in maintaining the company facility and shop work areas. This includes maintaining shop tools, demo inventory, and other equipment. Specialized tools will be provided. TSW will replace and maintain the provided tools as needed.

This position involves frequent communication with customers to provide updates on repairs and preventative maintenance instructions.

Solid professional communication skills and the ability to accept constructive feedback are essential in this job.

Essential job functions:

• Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems with commercial equipment.
• Provide on-site repair at the customer location 75% of the time and in our Spokane shop 25% of the time.
• Some overnight travel required, up to 2 nights per week maximum
• Performs repair and maintenance on small gas and diesel engines and machine’s hydraulic systems and/or electrical systems.
• Responsible for both simple and complicated blade-sharpening.
• Accurate and daily completion of administrative duties, such as submitting parts orders, electronic time & attendance, completing labor logs, submission and monitoring of warranty claims, etc.
• Self-motivated individual who effectively manages their schedule and maintains an organized approach to their tasks.
• Manually or using a lift truck, move equipment needing repair or set-up from the yard or warehouse to the shop’s work area.
• Uphold professional and ethical conduct in all interactions with customers, colleagues, and management.
• Safe operation of a company vehicle.
• Compliance with State, Local, Department of Transportation, and Company Safety Guidelines.
• Maintain certifications and pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Job Qualifications:

• Minimum 3-5 years experience in mechanics and hydraulics; experience in the turf maintenance industry is a plus.
• Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Location: Reside within 30 miles of the TSW facility.
• Education: High school education or equivalent.
• Evidence of specialized education in gas/diesel maintenance and repair.
• Motor Vehicle Record: Clean driving record is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook or other email programs demonstrating daily use for effective email management.
• Experience in using virtual conferencing solutions for remote meetings and collaborations.
• Customer service: Demonstrated customer service and effective communication skills.
• Traits: Reliable, organized, detailed, focused, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Preferred: Commercial lawn maintenance and construction equipment experience/knowledge, and work experience or specialized education in small engine mechanics.

Job Offerings:

• Classification: Non-Exempt
• Job Type: Full Time
• $30-35 per hour. The hired applicant’s placement within this range is based on qualifications and professional experience.
• Eligible for monthly incentive program based on performance after 90 days.
• Monday through Friday. NO Weekends!
• Work shift: accommodating our customer schedules. Typically 6:30 am-3 pm with some overtime available
• Paid 2 times a month (semi-monthly)
• Paid Time Off (PTO) is earned per pay period and based on months of continuous service. To start the hired applicant will earn 4.00 hours per pay period, 8 hours per month.
• 9 paid holidays per year.
