Powder Coating Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Powder Coating Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for applying high-quality powder coatings to various metal components, ensuring they meet strict quality standards and safety protocols. Duties

• Prepare surfaces for coating by performing surface cleaning, sanding, and construction painting surface preparation using hand tools and power tools.
• Operate powder coating equipment including spray guns, airless paint sprayers, and conventional spray systems to apply coatings accurately.
• Interpret production documents such as work orders, process sheets, and quality standards to ensure correct application procedures.
• Handle materials efficiently using warehouse experience skills and materials handling techniques while adhering to safety protocols.
• Maintain proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and respiratory protection gear, to ensure safety during coating operations.
• Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect coated parts for defects or inconsistencies, ensuring adherence to quality standards in production.
• Use precision measuring instruments and mechanical knowledge to verify coating thickness and surface finish quality.
• Perform routine maintenance on coating equipment and troubleshoot issues related to coating application or machinery.
• Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall production efficiency.

Requirements

• Prior experience with powder coating processes or industrial painting is highly desirable.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, machining equipment, and auto body repair tools with precision.
• Knowledge of coating materials, auto painting techniques, and construction painting surface preparation methods.
• Familiarity with manufacturing environments, warehouse operations, and materials handling procedures.
• Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to coating thickness, and process adjustments.
• Understanding of safety protocol adherence including PPE use, respirator fitting, and respiratory protection measures.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret production documents and operate coating spray guns effectively.
• Valid forklift certification or experience is preferred for material movement tasks.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform visual inspections and quality checks consistently.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
