What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Officer position at Tuolumne Me-Wuk Tribal Council?
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Make vehicle patrols of tribal lands. Observes and reports any suspicious activities. Enforces tribal code violations and observes and reports hazardous conditions and/or individuals who may be involved in criminal activity.
- Prepares activity logs, incident crime reports and other reports, as required, in a completely factual and legible manner.
- Testifies in court or other hearings as a witness for the Tribal government in criminal matters.
- Attends department squad meetings and training courses as scheduled.
- Maintains a professional working relationship with the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department and other local, state and federal agencies.
- Maintains confidentiality as prescribed by local, state, federal and tribal policies, procedures, laws, or statutes.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:
- Must be at least age twenty-one (21) and have a high school diploma or G.E.D., and three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of individuals or employees of the organization.
- Good Math Skills, ability to add, multiply and divide.
- Ability to pass physical agility test, as required by Tribal Law Enforcement Commission, consisting of the ability to; climb all floors of the BOC parking structure while carrying a departmental medical bag and then transmitting a report via radio to dispatch, safely lift and hold 50lbs for 30 seconds simulating assisting with a medical back board lift, climb a 5ft wall followed by a 4ft chain link fence.
- Must undergo pre-employment and annual physical exam.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to prove eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Must possess a valid California drivers’ license and comply with the requirements of the Tribe’s driving policy and insurance requirements.
- Preference will be given to individuals possessing E.M.T. certification. Individuals who do not possess E.M.T. certification must be willing to attend training for certification.
The applicant seeking a position with Tribal Security must not have been found guilty of, or entered a plea of nolo contendere or its equivalent to certain felonious offense, or any certain felonious or misdemeanor offenses under Federal, state or tribal law involving crimes of violence, sexual assault, molestation, exploitation, or prostitution, or crimes against persons, or offenses committed against children or any crimes of moral turpitude. Circumstances involving expungement, reductions, or similar changes in records of a conviction does not automatically alter qualification under this section and will be evaluated on a case by case base.
