Purchasing Assistant

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Purchasing Assistant to join THE TEAM. The successful candidate will support the sourcing, purchasing, and inventory management processes essential to maintaining seamless supply chain operations. This role involves collaborating with suppliers, some negotiating of terms, and ensuring timely procurement of materials to meet production demands and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the sourcing and procurement of goods and services, ensuring alignment with company standards and requirements.
• Support the negotiation of contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
• Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, supplier contracts, and procurement documentation within the ERP system. (AS400.)
• Monitor inventory levels through materials management modules and collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to optimize inventory control.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials, tracking shipments and resolving any supply chain disruptions.
• Support inventory management activities including stock replenishment, cycle counts, and warehouse organization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as production, merchandising, logistics, and finance to streamline supply chain processes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing procurement efficiency and reducing costs.

Requirements Preferred:

• Proven experience working with ERP systems such as SAP (SAP ERP), JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, or AS400 in a purchasing or materials management capacity.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes including sourcing, negotiation, inventory control, and supply chain management.
• Understanding of logistics operations, pricing strategies, contracts management, and e-commerce platforms related to procurement.
• Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail in documentation and record keeping.
• Effective communication skills for negotiating with suppliers and collaborating across departments.
• Ability to analyze data related to pricing, inventory levels, and supplier performance for strategic decision-making.
