Who we’re looking for
Our Plant Engineering Advanced Planning & Innovation team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the mission of providing facility infrastructure necessary to allow battery manufacturing and on-site suppliers to manufacture high quality products in a safe and regulatory-compliant environment. We will accomplish this by developing team members capable of creating innovative and efficient infrastructure designs, allowing us to collaboratively meet business and customer needs.
Reporting to the PLE Advanced Planning & Innovation Manager, this role focuses on engineering planning, innovation, and analysis of new concepts for battery facility design and construction to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency for our construction processes and partners. The candidates should consistently demonstrate attributes of next level capability as outlined in the Core Competencies and meets expectations of current position.
What you’ll be doing:
A Senior Mechanical Engineer for the PLE Advanced Planning & Innovation team will support innovative planning and analysis by:
- Offering technical support for early project planning, focusing on industrial building mechanical system design and pre-construction analysis.
- Conducting studies on innovative technical design and implementation procedures, including cost and schedule impacts.
- Researching and benchmarking industry trends to enhance building design and installation, supporting quality, cost, schedule, and safety goals.
- Developing and supporting project justifications, business cases, and management presentations.
- Providing technical expertise throughout the planning, design, and construction phases, including cross-department collaboration.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) or 5 years in hands-on building mechanical system experience
- 5 years of experience in building design, construction, and/or operation/maintenance
- 5 years of experience in industrial building mechanical systems (HVAC, process piping, chilled water, compressed air, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, etc.)
- 3 years Reporting & presentation skills, including Intermediate level experience of computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook)
- Experience in industrial control or automation systems (i.e. Energy/Building Management Systems, fire alarm systems, SCADA, etc.)
- Experience in industrial building chemical systems (waste water, tank farms, etc.). We have some unique sites like battery and casting that have nitrogen or chemical paint systems, wastewater treatment, etc. So this is Not required but knowing these systems would be beneficial
- Experience in cross-departmental collaboration
- Experience with Power BI, Bluebeam Revu, Navisworks, and/or AutoCAD
- Industry related Certifications in ASHRAE, CEM, LEED AP, PMP, etc.
- Fundamental skills of problem solving and desire improve/kaizen
