What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assembly Technician position at TunaTank?
The Role:
You'll assemble TunaTank units from printed parts and hardware. Training is hands-on and in person: you'll learn each build alongside our team on the shop floor, backed by step-by-step digital assembly instructions on a shop-floor tablet. You'll work a production queue, keep quality high, and help get finished units packed and out the door. This is hands-on, detail-oriented work where your feedback directly shapes how we build.
What You'll Do
- Assemble TunaTank XL, MID, and Mini units and sub-assemblies following our digital SOPs (photos, video, and step-by-step checklists)
- Install heat-set inserts, cable glands, gaskets, brackets, wiring, and fasteners
- Inspect printed parts for defects and flag problems before they reach a customer
- Test finished units for fit, seal, and function
- Log completed steps and builds in our assembly tracking app
- Pack orders, including foam-in-place packaging, and prep shipments
- Help with the 3D printers as needed: removing prints, cleaning beds, swapping filament, basic part cleanup
- Keep your station and the shop clean and organized
- Suggest improvements to assembly steps, tooling, and workflow

- Can follow written and visual instructions accurately
- Eager to learn and take instruction well
- Reliable, on time, and able to work independently once trained
- Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
Nice to Have
- Assembly, manufacturing, or production line experience
- Experience with 3D printing
- Soldering or basic electrical/wiring experience
- Fishing or boating background (you'll understand what our customers need)
