Position Summary: The Special Education Assistive Technology Specialist works collaboratively to provide and implement assistive technology services for students with disabilities, with a focus on inclusive technology that benefits all students. This position is responsible for providing training, support, professional development, and creative approaches to support accessibility and inclusion, and for promoting best practices that provide access for learners of all abilities.

This role helps ensure that all services align with state and federal mandates and district priorities. The Specialist promotes inclusive practices, assists in Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) decisions, and supports program development for centralized services. This position plays a vital role in fostering collaboration, improving student outcomes, and ensuring access to high-quality educational opportunities.

Key Functions

• Assistive technology needs evaluation and IEP team support
• Training and professional development on AT tools and practices
• Coordination of AT services across grade levels
• AT program monitoring through data collection, analysis, and reporting
• Compliance support for federal and state special education regulations related to assistive technology
• Support for AT inventory, budget, and equipment maintenance
  
  

Education

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Master’s degree preferred
  
  

Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years of successful special education teaching or related services field experience
• Proven experience in data analysis and program evaluation
  
  

Licenses And Certifications

• Valid Oklahoma special education teaching certificate or appropriate related service licensure (Speech, OT, PT, BCBA, or equivalent) required
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Strong knowledge of federal and state special education regulations, practices, compliance requirements, and instructional methods
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in data analysis and technology tools for program monitoring and reporting
• Ability to collaborate with diverse teams, foster an inclusive environment, and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging multiple stakeholders
• Ability to adapt to change and apply critical thinking when developing solutions based on new guidelines, methods, technologies, and techniques
• Ability to build buy-in from leaders, peers, and individuals with diverse perspectives and backgrounds for new ideas and approaches
• Models core organizational beliefs and values and communicates openly and effectively within and across teams to maximize student success
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
