Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Evaluation and management of patients with chronic and advanced liver disease
- Outpatient hepatology clinic support and longitudinal patient management
- Management of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD/NAFLD)
- Evaluation of elevated liver enzymes and abnormal liver imaging findings
- Care of patients with viral hepatitis, autoimmune liver disease, alcohol-associated liver disease, and cirrhosis
- Participation in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) surveillance and care coordination
- Assistance with liver transplant evaluation and pre-transplant optimization
- Participation in post-transplant longitudinal follow-up care
- Coordination of multidisciplinary care across hepatology, transplant surgery, oncology, interventional radiology, nutrition, social work, and case management
- Transitional care and hospital discharge coordination
- Patient and family education related to chronic liver disease and transplant care
- Collaboration with inpatient GI and advanced endoscopy services as needed
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- Eligibility for Louisiana licensure and credentialing
- DEA registration (or eligibility)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills
- Interest in hepatology, transplant medicine, and complex chronic disease management
