Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic technique and infection control standards
- Take dental X-rays, as required
- Record vital signs and medical history, ensuring accurate medical documentation in EMR system.
- Manage patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health practices using proper dental terminology
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and assisting with front desk duties when needed
- Ensure all equipment is sterilized and maintained according to infection control protocols
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry to assist in procedures effectively
- Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient clinic workflow using four-handed dentistry techniques
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems for managing patient records and documentation
- Experience with dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy related to oral health
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques in a clinical setting
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures across specialties like prosthodontics and endodontics
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry principles and handling pediatric patients is a plus
- Competence in taking vital signs and understanding medical documentation requirements
- Excellent communication skills suitable for explaining procedures to patients of all ages including pediatrics
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
