Production Planner II
Location: Richmond, CA
Schedule: Onsite Monday-Friday | Start time between 6:00 AM - 8:00 AM
Duration: 3-Month LOA Coverage Assignment
Pay Rate: $37.30-$48.00/hr DOE
Join a global leader in life science and diagnostic solutions as a Production Planner II supporting a high-volume chemical manufacturing facility in Richmond, CA. This site produces process chromatography resins, liquid buffers, monomer solutions, oils, and other specialized products used across the life sciences industry.
This is an excellent opportunity for a production planning professional who thrives in a complex manufacturing environment and enjoys balancing scheduling, inventory management, capacity planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
What You'll Do:
- Execute MRP activities within SAP to support production requirements and customer demand.
- Develop and maintain mid- and long-range production plans that drive material, staffing, equipment, and outsourcing strategies.
- Create and manage daily and weekly finite production schedules to optimize workflow and manufacturing efficiency.
- Monitor production exceptions, analyze operational data, and resolve routine and non-routine planning issues.
- Analyze inventory trends and movements to optimize inventory utilization and identify appropriate safety stock levels.
- Evaluate batch sizes, process capacity, and manufacturing efficiency to improve production performance.
- Manage excess and obsolete inventory disposition activities.
- Generate reports, analyze production data, summarize findings, and communicate recommendations to stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and workflow optimization.
- Partner closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, and other cross-functional teams in a global matrix organization.

What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 3 years of production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing planning experience.
- Experience working in a Lean manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of Bills of Material (BOMs) and manufacturing routings.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems, preferably SAP.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to anticipate and resolve issues proactively.
- Continuous Improvement experience is highly preferred.
- APICS CPIM certification is a plus.
