Chemical Process Operator II
Location: Richmond, CA
12-month W2 Assignment (potential to extend or convert)
Pay: $26-$32/HR (DOE)
Shifts Available:
- 2nd Shift: Monday – Friday, 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
- Training will be in the 1st Shift
Job Summary:
On behalf of our client, a leading manufacturer and seller of products for the life science research and clinical diagnostics markets, we are seeking dedicated Chemical Process Operator II professionals to join our production team at the Richmond Chemical Plant. This role is crucial in the manufacturing of process chromatography resins, liquid buffers, monomer solutions, oils, and other specialized life science products. The ideal candidate will have experience operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting both batch and continuous chemical processes in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to achieve business objectives.
- Uphold the plant's safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures.
- Identify and report potential safety issues proactively.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals in compliance with regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Execute production tasks with precision, including weighing, measuring, preparing, mixing, monitoring, and adjusting chemical materials.
- Operate large-scale reactors and other specialized equipment.
- Collect and analyze chemical samples to ensure quality control.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate inventory, planning, and quality issues to the appropriate departments.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs, escalating to maintenance when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in a chemical or biological field preferred.
- Experience: 4 years of chemical/biological production experience, preferably in a regulated environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Intermediate-level math skills, including unit conversions and ratio calculations.
- Intermediate analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP is a plus).
- Knowledge of hazardous material regulations and wastewater handling is a plus.
- Familiarity with operating reactors is a plus.
