Position Title: Legal Secretary
Location: Columbus, Ohio (Hybrid)
Position Overview
- Tucker Ellis LLP is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join our Columbus office, supporting both litigation and corporate practice groups. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced law firm environment.
- The ideal candidate is a proactive team player who can seamlessly support attorneys across practice areas, demonstrating flexibility, sound judgment, and a commitment to excellence.
- This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week in the office, with daily in-office attendance during the first 90 days for onboarding and training.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, format, and file legal documents in state, federal, and appellate courts, including electronic and traditional filings
- Draft, revise, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and transactional materials with a high level of accuracy
- Create tables of authorities and tables of contents for briefs and other filings
- Assist with corporate transactional documents, including entity formation, governance documents, and closing binders
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances
- Coordinate travel arrangements and client meetings
- Open new client matters, perform conflict checks, and maintain organized electronic and physical files
- Prepare and process client billing, expense reports, and time entry edits
- Collaborate with attorneys and administrative staff on special projects and firm initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of legal secretary or legal assistant experience in a law firm environment (litigation experience required; corporate experience preferred)
- Knowledge of Ohio state and federal court rules and procedures
- Experience with e-filing systems and court filing procedures
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including document styling, tables, and formatting tools
- Strong proofreading and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a client-service mindset

Compensation
The target salary range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of experience, skill set, and educational background.
