What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse-Production Worker position at Tube Service Co.?
Responsible for fulfilling metal tube orders which involves the pulling, measuring, cutting and packaging of aluminum, steel and stainless tube material. Using forklifts and cranes to load and unload racks and trucks in the warehouse. Full time positions and overtime is available. This is a foundation position which can lead to opportunities in other departments or as delivery driver with full benefits after three months.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Pull material as required for sales orders, saw or laser dept.
- Packages all material in accordance with policies and procedures with special attention to any remarks on the work order
- Pull material from racks, shelves, or floor to be used for a job
- Reviews stock available in the computer system to determine best yield
- Stocks material in the appropriate designated area
- Reports damaged material to the appropriate personnel
- Using tape measures and micrometers, measure material and note specs
- Properly document finished orders including but not limited to piece counts, material sizes and cutting errors
- Tags material with the correct identifying information
- Strapping and unstrapping bundles of material
- Weighs material and records accurate weight
- Printing job tickets
- Operate within safety rules, policies, and guidelines
- Must promptly notify supervisor or management about any material shortages, accidents, damage to equipment or processing mistakes with materials.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply & divide) comfortable with measuring in feet and inches, fractions and decimal numbers to three decimal places. Ability to convert fractions to decimal. Basic computer skills. Metalworking machine shop a plus. Use measuring tools to measure lengths, diameters, wall thicknesses and calculate inner diameters. Precision saw experience a plus. Forklift driving experience a plus - Ability and willingness to operate an overhead crane with proper training. Ability to understand written dimensions and instructions on work related documents. Punctuality and good attendance. Ability to speak to others to clearly and concisely convey information effectively. Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong; it does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English. Level of Education: High School Diploma / GED
