JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Estimator to support our manufacturing operations. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for manufactured parts or assemblies and for supporting pricing decisions for products and services. This role involves creating step-by-step work instructions or routing sequences, determining material and process requirements, and analyzing customer specifications and technical drawings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to prepare detailed cost, material, labor, and time estimates.
- Develop step-by-step routing sequences for manufacturing processes.
- Identify and specify required materials, outside processes, and appropriate vendors.
- Consult with engineers, production staff, and vendors to resolve estimate-related issues.
- Evaluate historical cost data and compare estimates to actual production performance to improve accuracy.
- Support production planning, scheduling, and pricing through well-documented estimates.
- Prepare and maintain a supplier and subcontractor database.
- Assess whether to manufacture or purchase parts based on cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare estimates for use in vendor and subcontractor selection.
- Assist in maintaining and negotiating tendering processes.
- Conduct cost reduction studies and help establish standard cost data.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES
- Collaborate professionally with team members across departments.
- Support strategic planning initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
- OR
- High School Diploma/GED with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
- At least 1 year of experience using a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) system; SolidWorks or Pro/Engineer preferred.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to quickly learn new software tools and processes.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Location: Apple Valley, CA
Job Type: Full-Time | Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM (Overtime as needed)
