Join TTUHSC Managed Care as a Registered Dental Hygienist serving the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) at the Fort Stockton and Lynaugh Units. This role offers the opportunity to provide essential preventive and clinical dental care in a unique and rewarding correctional healthcare environment.
Position Summary
As a Registered Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for delivering professional dental hygiene services and supporting overall dental clinic operations. You’ll work closely with dentists, dental assistants, and healthcare staff to ensure patients receive comprehensive and timely oral care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform professional dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing
- Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques using models and demonstrations
- Take and develop dental radiographs
- Administer fluoride treatments as needed to prevent dental decay
- Sterilize dental instruments and disinfect operatories according to infection control standards
- Track and document instrument inventory and ensure supplies are ordered timely
- Assist with dental procedures as needed in a Dental Assistant role
- Maintain accurate dental records using both manual and electronic systems
- Respond to sick calls, screen dental complaints, and assist in scheduling dental appointments
Qualifications
- Current license as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) in the State of Texas, or ability of obtain
- CPR certification
