Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training — Nashville, TN
A geotechnical engineer-in-training with TTL is given the opportunity to work on a wide variety of project types and teams providing an opportunity to explore varying interests and develop passions. We have teams of engineers working collaboratively on multi-discipline projects across the Southeast. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, organized, creative, and responsible individual interested in working as part of a team, while developing personal technical and professional skills required for being a successful practicing engineer.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include:
- Perform field activities such as sample collection, field boring log preparation, staking boring locations, and conducting field electrical resistivity testing
- Design, communicate, and direct plans for projects with our field and laboratory staff
- Oversee assigned project field activities
- Assign laboratory testing
- Create boring logs, perform calculations, and develop engineering recommendations
- Prepare engineering reports
- Foundation design calculations, analysis, and plan preparation
- Communicate with clients regarding the status of projects, results of field and laboratory testing, and engineering recommendations
Requirements:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering, M.S. preferred
- Two to four years of geotechnical engineering consulting experience preferred
- Tennessee Engineer-in-Training certificate
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in team environments.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
