Picture your morning: you review a complex print, select the ideal tools, load material, and bring a Swiss-style CNC lathe to life. You hand-code a few lines of G/M code, refine the program in CAM, run a first-off, measure meticulously, and dial in the process for repeatable, on-time production. Throughout the day, you coach junior machinists, partner with engineering and quality, and fine-tune programs for speed and accuracy—always with a clean, safe workstation.
What you’ll handle- Set up and run CNC Swiss machines for production, including tooling selection, loading material, and complete part setup
- Interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications to guide machining strategy
- Program Swiss machines via CAM (e.g., Esprit, PartMaker) or by manual G/M-code
- Execute test programs, perform trial cuts, and verify results through inspection and measurement
- Oversee production for quality, precision, and schedule adherence
- Troubleshoot complex issues and optimize code, tooling, and parameters for throughput
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality to improve processes and output
- Train and mentor junior machinists in setup, operation, and programming
- Conduct routine machine maintenance to sustain reliability
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
- 5 years of hands-on CNC Swiss machining experience in manufacturing
- Strong programming ability in G-code/M-code and proficiency with CAM tools
- Deep knowledge of Swiss machining methods, tooling, materials, and tight tolerances
- Fluency in reading complex prints and specifications
- Exceptional troubleshooting and continuous improvement mindset
- Uncompromising attention to detail and quality
- Clear communicator with leadership experience mentoring others
- Safety-first attitude and adherence to best practices
Technical certification or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
