Role Description
We are seeking a full-time GPS / Construction Technology Specialist in Kennewick, WA to support field operations and help expand our in-house technology capabilities. The ideal candidate is comfortable working both in the field and in the office, enjoys problem-solving, and is interested in helping a company expand its use of GPS and surveying technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain machine control models for construction projects
- Diagnose and troubleshoot GPS equipment and machine control issues in the field
- Coordinate with equipment and software vendors (Topcon, 4K, etc.) to keep systems updated and functioning properly
- Maintain, track, and manage GPS equipment inventory
- Handle proper disposal or retirement of obsolete technology and equipment
- Initiate and perform in-house surveying for company projects
- Conduct pre-construction drone flights and process aerial data for project planning
- Evaluate and introduce new GPS and construction technology that improves productivity
- Train field employees and operators on proper use of GPS systems and machine control equipment
- Provide ongoing technical support for crews using GPS technology on jobsites
- Willingness to learn/train on any of the above responsibilities as needed
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with construction GPS systems and machine control (Topcon preferred)
· Experience building or modifying machine control models
· Familiarity with surveying principles and layout procedures
· Experience with drone operations and aerial data processing
· Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and GPS connectivity issues
· Strong communication skills and ability to train field personnel
