Role Overview
Introduction: This role manages that end-item level Master Production Schedule across the planning time horizon inside the ERP system and in collaboration with other departments to optimize service and cost. This is a schedule of Release orders and then Firm Planned Orders/work orders that govern the actual production sequence and intended output from the operation day-by-day. The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring that commitments to customers are met in full, and that both inventory and efficiency of the business continue to be optimized during the length of the production plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Production Planner considers customer orders and forecasts, backlog, availability of material, availability of capacity, management policy and goals to create responsive schedules and operates with end-item scheduling.
- Creates the MPS inside the Planning Time-Fence into a daily/weekly schedule of ERP Firm Planned Orders/Works Orders to best balance demand and supply needs. In the near horizon, sequences, capacity plans and releases orders for execution to the operations shop floor.
- Uses rough-cut, or more detailed, capacity and resource planning processes to ensure the whole schedule is always do-able.
- Ensures there are never any Past Due orders in the Master Production Schedule through dynamic replanning.
- Understands and flexes dynamic lead times and order quantities and routings using the APOS (Advanced Planning and Scheduling) system to support customer demand.
- Collate and report manufacturing and supplier performance measures results weekly and monthly.
- Seeks to optimize customer service, manufacturing resources and inventory levels.
- Identifies, negotiates and resolves conflicts involving material and/or capacity availability to support Order Promising integrity.
- Maintains end-Item schedule as the valid short-term input to Material Requirements Planning in the ERP system.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of manufacturing requirements and planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with computerized materials control programs.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar
Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
- Minimum two-year technical degree and at least five years of relevant experience.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems; SAP preferred.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Strong analytical thinker with problem solving skills.
- US Citizenship required due to contracts with the Department of Defense
