Job DescriptionThe Audio Video (AV) Technician is a client-facing position responsible for setting up and operating a variety of high-end audio and visual equipment for live, virtual, or hybrid events at all campus locations and other off-campus venues. The AV Technician will work closely with event coordinators and clients to ensure that all events are successful from an audio-visual standpoint.Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.
Technical Expertise:
Demonstrate a strong understanding of audio and visual equipment, principles, and applications.
Possess in-depth knowledge of various audio and video equipment, including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, video cameras, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to audio and visual equipment
Equipment Operation:
Set up, install, and operate audio-visual equipment for various events, including meetings, presentations, media events, and virtual events.
Operate audio-visual equipment seamlessly to ensure high-quality audio and visual output.
Adjust equipment settings and configurations to meet specific event requirements.
Customer Service:
Provide excellent customer service to event coordinators, clients, and other stakeholders.
Promptly address equipment changes, requests, and concerns.
Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with clients and colleagues.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist in installing new audio-visual equipment and implementing system upgrades.
Conduct quality checks on audio-visual equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Provide technical support and assistance to users of audio-visual equipment.
Maintain and repair audio-visual equipment as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Associate degree in Audio-Visual Technology, Electronics, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Three (3) years of experience in setting up, operating, and maintaining audio-visual equipment.
- Experience in handling audio-visual equipment for live, virtual, or hybrid events.
- Skills:
- Proficient in operating various audio-visual equipment, including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, video cameras, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt to changing event requirements and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical Demands:
- The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- The ability to stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
- The ability to work in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor venues.
