What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Worker - TST position at TST MASTER?
SUMMARY
Inspects and assist in maintenance of equipment and machinery. Assists in performing refractory repairs on furnaces and related structures and maintains other furnace structures as instructed. Also, performs plant grounds maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Maintains Baghouse and associate equipment.
- Cleans and lubricates equipment to make sure it is operating efficiently.
- Assists in dismantling defective machinery and equipment and installing new or repaired parts.
- Assists in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining furnace tube bundles roof(s).
- Pre-Inspects mobile equipment.
- Operates mechanical equipment such as forklifts, jackhammers, other air tools, compressors and cement mixers.
- Cleans and maintains the tooling, material and lubricants storage areas.
- Paints safety color coding and equipment.
- Uses assorted hand tools such as rakes, shovels, brooms, hammers and brushes.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Management..
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS
- Ability to read and write basic sentences.
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Demonstrate ability to perform these operations using units of American weight, measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to measure.
- Ability to carry out simple instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing normal duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception to read instruments, operate material handling equipment and identify plant color code system. WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in this work environment requires hearing protection.
