The Senior Logistics Specialist is responsible for overseeing end-to-end logistics operations supporting domestic warehousing, transportation, and inventory performance within a manufacturing environment. This role serves as the day‑to‑day lead for 3PL warehouse management, inventory accuracy, and freight execution, partnering with management to drive continuous improvement across logistics processes. The Senior Logistics Specialist works cross-functionally with Planning, Procurement, Customer Service, Sales, and Operations to ensure efficient material flow, accurate inventory, cost control, and high service levels.
Essential Job Functions:
Warehouse & 3PL Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for domestic 3PL warehouses, ensuring consistent communication, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Conduct frequent on-site visits to local warehouses to audit operations, review inventory accuracy, and address operational gaps.
- Oversee annual physical inventory counts at all domestic warehouses, including planning, execution, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis of variances.
- Oversee plant warehouse activities related to reclaiming, repacking, and material disposition.
Inventory Management & Accuracy:
- Accountable for inventory accuracy across domestic warehouses and monthly reporting.
-Track and drive initiatives to reduce restricted, aging, and slow-moving inventory.
- Ensure timely and accurate inventory transactions and master data maintenance within SAP.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Transportation & Freight Oversight:
- Oversee domestic and export freight activities, including shipment coordination, issue resolution, and carrier performance.
- Support freight optimization initiatives related to cost, service, and transit time.
Logistics Quality & Customer Complaints:
-Lead logistics‑ and warehousing‑related customer complaint investigations, including root‑cause analysis, cross‑functional coordination, and assignment of corrective and preventive actions to internal teams and 3PL partners.
-Track trends in logistics-related customer complaints and support continuous improvement initiatives to prevent recurrence.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead and support logistics improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, warehouse performance, freight optimization, and process efficiency.
Experience/Educations Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field OR 4 additional years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of logistics experience in a manufacturing environment.
- SAP experience required, including inventory and logistics-related processes.
- Experience working with 3PL warehouses and transportation providers.
