Position Description:
Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. You will perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, checking fluid levels, and rotating tires.This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repair techniques to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our fleet. You will work on various equipment, including tractor-trailers, and be responsible for troubleshooting mechanical issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services on commercial vehicles
- Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of mechanical and electrical problems.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed.
- Order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies.
- Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts
- Repairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines and other associated parts
- Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
- Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance
- Completing oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment and brake checks
- Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
Education, Experience and Licensing Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License
- Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system and the mechanisms of a diesel engine
- In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
- Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
- Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software
- Effective collaboration and communication skills
