Position of Summary :The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) works as part of the Anesthesia Care Team in an Orthopaedic Outpatient Surgery Center, and is responsible for providing quality care utilizing the team approach. The CRNA performs clinical anesthesia duties and takes appropriate responsibility for direct patient care. The CRNA prioritizes anesthetic decisions, administers anesthetic agents under department protocols and guidelines, and communicates patient status to healthcare team members.
What You'll Do :Under the medical direction of an Anesthesiologist :
Perform or supervise the performance of an anesthetic experience in collaboration with appropriate physician throughout the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases of anesthesia and surgeryAdminister monitored anesthesia careExamine patient, obtain medical history, and use diagnostic tests to determine risk during surgical and medical proceduresSchedule and maintain use of surgical site, including operating, wash-up, waiting rooms, and anesthetic and sterilizing equipmentMonitor, document and manage patient reactions to anesthesia and surgeryManage fluid therapy, perform and manage invasive monitoring, and perform post-operative evaluationsDevelop an anesthetic plan based on a preanesthetic evaluationAttend and participate in professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities.What You'll Need :Must have and maintain a current license to practice in nursing as a registered nurse in the state of Texas. Must hold current certification from an approved national CRNA certifying body. This certification must be maintained and recertified every 2 years. Must have and maintain current certification in BCLS and ACLS. The ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patients age-specific needs is required.Must have a Masters degree from an accredited program in nurse anesthesia. Must be a graduate from an accredited baccalaureate degree program in nursing (BSN)2 years of experience preferred.Excellent communication skills and knowledge of surgical procedures, specifically Orthopaedics and Pain Management..Basic computer knowledge; read / write English; Spanish a plus.Other duties as assigned as necessary and may vary at times, as needed, by your immediate supervisor or as directed by the company.Requires extensive mobility (walking and standing) while performing duties. Periodic pushing, pulling, and lifting of patients and / or equipment. May have exposure to patients with communicable diseases. May have exposure to hazardous equipment or agents.Specialty3
