Work Schedule: M-F | 7.30 AM - 3.30 PM & Be Available on Weekends

Brief Job Description :-
This is technical work in the performance of a variety of standardized tests and laboratory procedures for the Department. Employees in this class are responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative laboratory examinations of potable water and wastewater. Duties include preparing various media, solutions, and reagents and conducting tests to identify water pathogens and indicator bacteria. Related work includes collecting bacteriological samples, conducting daily routine water and chemical analyses, and preparing solutions and reagents for testing. Routine work is performed independently following established procedures for the examination of water and wastewater. Supervision is received from a professional superior who reviews work for accuracy of results and conformance with established laboratory procedures and techniques.
Essential Job Functions Here :-
- Performs physical, chemical, and microbiological tests and analysis of water, wastewater, bio-solids and industrial waste to demonstrate regulatory compliance.
- Provides assistance to chemists in the performance of various research projects. Cleans glassware and assists in the maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Informs chemists when reagents or equipment require reordering or repairs.
- Assists and/or maintains inventory documentation of equipment(s), supplies, and vehicle(s).
- Receives and handles document information or chain‐of‐custody regarding various samples to perform multiple analyses under the supervision of a professional chemist or microbiologist.
- Assists in instrumental analysis involving sample preparation and actual running of samples.
- Collects, transports, and prepares water, wastewater, bio-solids, and industrial waste samples for testing.
- Collects bacteriological samples in compliance with regulatory requirements or in response to customer complaints.
- Receives and responds to customer complaints, as necessary.
- Performs tasks related to computer applications such as or similar to ERP, LIMS, and EAMS functions.
- Scheduled on an "On‐Call” rotation 24/7.
- Performs related work as required.
- Performs laboratory quality assurance control testing in accordance with TNI f/k/a The NELAC Institute, National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) regulations; attends and participates in training classes as required by NELAC.
- Utilizing a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), performs sample log‐in; records and manipulates laboratory data; enters quality control data necessary to validate analytical method performance; generates monthly summaries.
- Prepares chemical reagents and microbiological test media to be used in water, wastewater, bio-solids and industrial waste testing.
- Maintains pertinent information on results required by the NELAC Institute and/or any and all related compliance requirements.

Education, Experience, Licensing &/Or Certifications Required :-
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of laboratory analysis experience is required.
- Completion of 30 semester credits to include 8 semester credits in Chemistry, Biology, Zoology, Geology, or Physics may substitute for the required experience.
- Work schedules vary to include weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Lifting upto 50 pounds.
- Bilingual - Spanish & English
- Must possess a driver's license.
