What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Nurse Endoscopy position at Truxtun Surgery Center, Inc?
We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse to provide assistance in the medical care of patients. Our center is looking for an experienced professional who is capable of working independently, as well as part of a collaborative team. The successful candidate will maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times, is familiar with departmental rules and procedures, and has excellent computer skills including medical records management. Is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care given to G.I. patients by assuming a peri-procedure role. The role is defined as the pre, intra & post procedure period.
Will have contact with the patient in each phase of his experience.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, physicians, families and other healthcare professionals.
- Communicate and document medical information to prepare for patient interaction.
- Provide medical care to patients based on physician's orders.
- Continuously update knowledge of new medical treatments and methods.
- Perform a variety of procedures related to patient care.
- Monitor a patient's condition and report changes.
- Provides multidimensional care for patients.
- Greets and identifies assigned patient in pre-procedure holding area; checks arm band identification & chart making sure all match.
- Reviews patient's history and begins nursing assessment of patient.
- Initiates pre-procedure teaching.
- Checks chart
- Transports patient from admitting holding area to Procedure Room
- Positions patient as indicated, paying attention to any previous restrictions of movement the patient may have that would jeopardize said position.
Places monitor leads, blood pressure cuff and pulse oximetry on patient.
- Assists with the needs of the physician
- Monitors the patient when sedation is given and assesses patient's physiological and psychological needs and responses
- Provides general maintenance of the clinical area
- Demonstrates awareness of patient's fears and apprehensions.
- Uses calm unhurried movements
- Ensures the patient’s safety and comfort
- Effectively communicates all patient care to receiving A&D staff
- Post Procedure
- Decision Making: A. Functions as a team leader and/or floor monitor. B. Practices conservative utilization of supplies. C. Praises team members.
- Other Duties: A. Checks room supplies before each case for completeness B. Updates procedure manuals as needed C. Assists re-stocking rooms daily.
