Community Support Caregiver for Adult Client (PCA or DSP)

We are seeking a dependable and engaging Community Support Caregiver to support an adult client during community outings, volunteer activities, and skill‑building routines. A licensed nurse will be present during all shifts. The ideal candidate is patient, attentive, and committed to person‑centered support.

Location: Virginia Beach, VA Hours: Part‑time, daytime hours (flexible)
Setting: Community‑based support with nurse present

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide community integration support, including outings based on the client's interests (stores, parks, local activities, etc.).
• Assist the client with volunteer tasks at a local grocery store.
• Support grocery shopping skills: navigating the store, comparing items, making purchases, and completing transactions.
• Help the client create grocery lists and choose weekly activities.
• Support communication by modeling and encouraging use of his speech‑generating communication device.
• Promote independence, social interaction, and confidence during all activities.
• Collaborate with the on‑site nurse to ensure safety and consistency.

Requirements

• Clean background check

• Reliable transportation
• Experience supporting individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities preferred
• Comfort learning and supporting communication devices (training can be provided)
• Dependable, patient, and respectful demeanor
