What are the responsibilities and job description for the Alternative Family Living (AFL), Durham, NC and surrounding counties position at TruWay Staffing Services?
We are looking for positive people who want to provide Alternative Family Living (AFL) for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in Durham, NC and the surrounding counties. AFL services are provided twenty four hours a day. The client lives in the home with you. The consumer will have an Individual Service Plan (ISP) structured towards achieving daily living goals and community interactions. The daily rate for compensation will be based on the consumer’s level of care, however the minimum is $125.00 per day.

- Ensure consumer’s health and safety by providing a clean, comfortable environment
- Develop a rapport with the consumer, cultivating a supportive relationship
- Assist with daily activities including meals and personal hygiene
- Administer medications and maintain Medication Administration Record (MAR)
- Daily completion of notes to be submitted electronically on the healthcare website
- Transport consumer to doctor appointments and other community outings
- Conduct monthly tornado/fire drills
- The AFL Home must pass a fire and sanitation inspection; and zoning rules and regulations
- Must have at least 2 years experience working with consumers diagnosed with autism or other developmental disabilities
- College degree, high school diploma or equivalent mandatory
