What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Director position at Trustwell Living?
Are you a culinary leader with a love for great food and a talent for guiding others? We're looking for a Lead Cook to join our kitchen team and bring both excellence and heart to every dish served. In this hands-on role, you'll oversee daily kitchen operations, support menu execution, and mentor our culinary team, all while creating memorable dining experiences for our residents and guests.
What You'll Do:
- Supervise day-to-day back-of-house operations to ensure food quality, safety, and presentation standards
- Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff to consistently deliver high-quality meals
- Assist with menu planning, food prep, and special events
- Monitor inventory, ordering, and cost control in alignment with budget goals
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment that meets all health codes
- Collaborate with front-of-house and leadership teams to ensure a seamless dining experience
- Support innovation in recipes, presentation, and resident satisfaction
What We're Looking For:
- 2–4 years of culinary experience in a supervisory or lead cook role (senior living, healthcare, hospitality a plus)
- Experience and/or knowledge of meal preparation for large groups.
- Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team environment, work flexible shifts, handle multiple tasks at one time and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a team-first mindset
- Passion for food, service, and continuous improvement
