ROLE DESCRIPTION We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer to help scale our cloud, security, and AI infrastructure. This role is about keeping production stable, improving automation, making deployments safer, controlling cloud costs, strengthening observability, and helping engineering move faster without breaking reliability. You will report directly to the CTO, work closely with engineering, and have a high level of ownership and autonomy.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN • Cloud infrastructure: scalability, reliability, and cost optimization • Production readiness: safe releases, smart rollbacks, and deployment visibility • Observability: logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, and clear alerts • Automation: scripts, tooling, and repeatable workflows for daily operations • Reliability: high availability, disaster recovery, backups, and resilience planning • Security: networking, encryption, proxies, access controls, and least-privilege design • AI infrastructure: cost and performance optimization for AI-related services • Engineering enablement: helping teams ship faster with better guardrails
MUST-HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE • 5 years as a hands-on DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineer in production SaaS environments • Strong recent hands-on experience - this is not an architecture-only role • Deep AWS experience, including VPC, IAM, KMS, EC2, ECS, SES, SQS, Auto Scaling, and cost controls • Strong operational experience with MongoDB and ELK • Automation-first mindset - scripts, tools, and repeatable processes for everything • Experience with platforms such as Heroku, Porter, Render, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar • Strong understanding of security, encryption, proxies, and networking fundamentals • Experience building for high availability, disaster recovery, uptime, and data protection • Strong cloud cost management skills - monitoring, forecasting, and reducing waste without hurting performance • Strong observability mindset - dashboards and alerts that explain the root cause, not just the symptoms
NICE-TO-HAVE EXPERIENCE • Email infrastructure experience: SMTP, SPF, DKIM, DMARC • AWS AI services such as Textract, Rekognition, or Bedrock • AI infrastructure, embedded models, fine-tuning, or model deployment • Compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or HIPAA
