Required Skills/Experience:
- Min 1 year in Acute Care MedSurg setting.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Some cardiac skill would be great.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Mon-Fri 7-7; the unit closes Friday at 7 PM.
- The unit is closed on the weekends.
- Holidays only if they fall during the week.
Floating Requirements:
- Potential float if the census is low; will float to Med Surg Unit.
Special Requests:
- Admission hold patients: patients currently in ED with admission and care orders and no immediate medical bed available.
- Overflow: medical observation status when observation unit is full.
- Discharge pending patients: stretcher patients pending transport, pending DME for safe discharge, pending receipt of indigent medications. All patients will have transport and time arranged prior to transferring to this unit.
- May also have patients pending dialysis prior to discharge
- Will not have: patients requiring IV drips- Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, dobutamine, insulin, or vapothem; inmates, active infections requiring isolation precautions, PACU or MedOps pts
- Scope of care includes medication administration of both IV and PO as ordered, pending orders, and admission database.
- Discharge pending patients receive basic care to include medications and pain control with PO orders only, checking/treating blood sugars, nourishment per diet, assistance with complex toileting needs, administering oxygen via nasal cannula, and the same treatment taking place on inpatient units after a discharge order is placed with notification of acute changes.
