Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a mechanic specializing in diesel engines and heavy construction equipment.
- Strong knowledge of braking systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems relevant to construction machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate service vehicles as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from a recognized trade or technical school in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment maintenance.
- Experience working in the construction industry or with equipment in a similar environment.
- Familiarity with computerized diagnostic equipment and maintenance management software.
- OSHA safety certification or equivalent training related to construction site safety.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on blasting, painting, and cleaning equipment, including air compressors, hydroblasters, diesel engines, braking systems, and hydraulic components.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair transmissions, differentials, carburetors, distributors, fuel pumps, injectors, steering systems, starters, generators, universal joints, hydraulic systems, pumps and valves.
- Diagnose mechanical problems using specialized tools and technical manuals and execute effective repairs to restore equipment functionality.
- Replace or repair worn or damaged parts such as gaskets, fuel system components, and brake assemblies to ensure safety and performance.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and operators to schedule maintenance activities that minimize operational disruptions.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts inventory, and maintenance schedules to support compliance and operational efficiency.
- Operate various power tools in accordance with company and safety policies.
- Communicate with shop foreman.
- Wear the personal protective equipment prescribed by posted signs, written instructions and work permits.
- Understand and adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in company safety and training programs.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management personnel.
