Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Risk Management

  • Oversees monitoring and response to ongoing fraudulent activity and accounts within one or more regions to identify current and emerging threats. Conducts, documents and communicates in-depth investigations of internal and external fraud and security events and works with direct reports and frontline staff to mitigate further risks.
  • Works with management to implement procedures to detect and prevent the occurrence of fraudulent, illegal or improper activities; conduct investigations of fraudulent, illegal or improper activities that could cause losses to or claims against the Bank and maintaining related case files; act as a liaison to local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as to legal counsel and customers on matters relating to fraudulent, illegal or improper activities; preparing court case file documentation and attending court hearings and trials, as required; coordinating, or assisting with, the recovery of losses and preparing appropriate reports.
  • Responsible for coordinating response to emergency events at Bank offices, i.e. robberies and bomb threats, providing support and assistance to employees and law enforcement, communication with senior management and preparing applicable reports.
  • Working with management and L&D, responsible for creating a comprehensive security and fraud training program for all Bank employees, that includes; robbery and other threats, fraud prevention and detection, security equipment operation, and adherence to related security policy and procedure,
  • Working with the Security/Fraud and Risk teams implements strategies and tactics to mitigate threats and minimize losses of the Bank and its customers.
  • Oversees Fraud & Security Officer(s) outreach and actively participates in maintenance of strong relationships with police departments and other law enforcement agencies and Bank attorneys
  • Responsible for remaining informed of industry practices in the security field through various associations, professional contacts and on-going training and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Assists Operations and Legal Services as needed in response to subpoenas and legal service and monitors activity as it relates to fraud and security objectives
  • Oversees Risk Division overdraft management activities including coordination with branches/officers, OOPs program administration, collection activities for significant OD accounts, reports appropriate accounts through eFunds for collection purposes.
  • Review risk reports and communications – NSF’s and Return Deposited items reports, Security & Fraud group emails to detect and mitigate risk and identify cases in need of response.
  • Assists to ensure safe transport of currency to and from a banking office as needed.
  • Gathers pertinent data to report on security and fraud related activity and develops annual Board level security reporting for one of more regions
  • May serve as a member of various committees (i.e., Red Flags, DR, etc.)

Physical Security

  • Oversees contact with all relevant law enforcement agencies including necessary communications, on-site details, etc. within one or more regions
  • Assists management in oversight of the Physical Security Coordinator as needed relating to facility access, alarms, cameras, related staff training and vendor relations across one or more regions
  • Backup to Physical Security Coordinator and Fraud & Security Officer(s) for review of DVR/obtaining photos/video for fraud identification-internal and external requests.
  • Oversees and ensures periodic branch visits to review security posture, answer questions and promote good practices
  • Is part of on-call rotation with management to ensure timely response to any security or fraud related events.

Position Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in direct Security/Risk Management in a banking environment required.
  • Knowledge of general banking industry regulation, bank security requirements, and general bank operations required.
  • CFE, industry security or similar certification desired
  • Possess strong research, organizational, time management, and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to take the initiative and produce accurate work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to deliver professional and responsive internal customer service.
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word and the ability to learn and utilize multiple software applications.
  • Knowledge of and experience with facility security systems and devices desired

Additional Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel to TruNorth Bank locations throughout the Eastern Region as business needs require
  • Provide supervisory oversight for Fraud & Security Risk Officer(s) in one or more regions
  • Eligible for a hybrid work schedule upon successful completion of required training

Other Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines.
  • Protect the confidentiality of non-public customer information (NPCI) and the security of our information technology resources. Adhere to the Bank’s Acceptable Use Policy, participate in security awareness training and successfully pass social engineering testing which are designed to provide the education necessary to enable employees to keep the bank secure. Employee awareness and vigilance are required in following these cyber security best practices and are the most effective weapon we have against cyber threats and fraud.
  • The Bank encourages participation in a community development service within the Bank’s assessment area. Community development encompasses affordable housing and community services that target low to moderate income individuals and activities that revitalize or stabilize targeted low to moderate income neighborhoods. Community development services must be related to providing a financial service or use the financial expertise of the bank employee. Examples include:
  • Offering accounting skills to a local charitable organization that serves low to moderate income individuals;
  • Performing bookkeeping services for low to moderate income seniors;
  • Teaching a financial literacy program for low to moderate income school children;
  • Fundraising on behalf of a local or state agency that provides services and/or programs targeting low- or moderate-income individuals;
  • Activities that revitalize or stabilize low- or moderate-income areas;
  • Encourages CRA qualified volunteerism.

Salary : $94,000 - $120,000
