What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Strategy Manager position at Trunk Space Storage?
Description
Job Overview:
We are looking for a motivated “best athlete” that comes from a consulting background (or similarly analytical roles or fields. The ideal candidate is a fast-learner, lives and breathes data, is analytical, works with well with the latest in tech and software (e.g., heavy-user of modern AI applications), and has some experience in operational or retail environments – e.g., 1-2 projects.
This role will report directly to the VP of Ops (30 years in self-storage) and have heavy exposure to the Head of Strategy/Chief of Staff (ex-BCG) and CEO (ex-McKinsey) as we seek to massively scale our self-storage platform from 6 stores (first store opened in September 2024) to 20-50 stores in 2026 all the way up to 100s of stores in the future. As a new business, you will get the opportunity to grow with us, wear multiple hats, help form the base culture / strategy for the company. You will get to develop and drive exciting initiatives building on the latest in management practices and technological innovation. You will get exposure to senior leaders – VP of Ops, CEO, Investors. You will get to have direct interaction with our front-line and experience the opportunities and challenges of driving change in those environments.
Attracting and retaining the best talent is vital to our success. We look to empower employees to make their own decisions, set the bar in compensation and benefits at the very upper end of the self-storage industry, foster a positive and “can-do” culture, and provide growth opportunities as we continue to build out the foundation of our team. You are a critical part of the company’s success – we view talent such as yourself as a top strategic priority and want to hear from you on how we make you and the company successful – we strive to make every day better than the previous one. As a start-up, we look for individuals that embrace the start-up dynamic, recognizing both the opportunities for greater responsibility and the learning experiences from mistakes.
Our team primarily works remotely with the leadership team located across the country from California to Florida to the Northeast. We advocate spending our in-person time at stores where business happens instead of going to corporate centers. We do require that our top team members including this role go to one of our stores for a leadership meeting every quarter. This role may require visiting stores more frequently than that to support various initiatives, but we do not anticipate more travel than once per month. The CEO and our corporate headquarters are in Dallas. We also care about lifestyle – the CEO left consulting to get some lifestyle control, we work hard against aspirational goals but also can flexibly adapt our work schedules around our lifestyle as opposed to adapting our lifestyles around our work schedules; this will not be a consulting grind!
