- The Liberty Local School District is seeking a dynamic and passionate Long-Term Substitute Teacher for 7-12 Science, with a strong emphasis on Chemistry and Physics. The ideal candidate will engage students in scientific inquiry and provide hands-on experiences, fostering a deep understanding of scientific concepts while promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Develop and implement an engaging and rigorous curriculum aligned with state and national standards for science education, focusing primarily on Chemistry and Physics.
- Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration in scientific exploration.
- Plan and deliver interactive lessons utilizing various teaching methods, including experiments, demonstrations, and technology integration.
- Assess student progress through regular evaluations, assignments, and laboratory reports, providing constructive feedback to support learning advancement.
- Facilitate discussions about the real-world applications of scientific principles and promote student interest in STEM fields.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to integrate science across the curriculum and share best practices.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness and stay current with scientific advancements and educational strategies.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administrative staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Science or appropriate endorsements in Chemistry and Physics.
- Proven experience teaching science at the middle and/or high school level is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Chemistry and Physics concepts, theories, and laboratory practices.
- Proficient in the use of technology to facilitate science learning and student engagement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Ability to create an inclusive learning environment that accommodates diverse student needs.
- Experience with differentiated instruction and a variety of assessment techniques.
- Familiarity with current educational trends and methodologies in science teaching, particularly in Chemistry and Physics.
- Ability to encourage student involvement in extracurricular science-related activities.
- Ability to stand, walk, and engage with students and staff for extended periods.
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
