Full-Stack Web Developer I
Job Responsibilities
PURPOSE: The entry-level full-stack developer supports senior developers by coding, testing, and maintaining both front-end (user interface) and back-end (server/database) aspects of web applications, learning and utilizing core languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and backend technologies, focusing on learning the business environment, fixing bugs, and building foundational features under guidance to grow into a proficient, versatile developer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Skills:
- Front-End Development: Assist in creating user-friendly interfaces, designing interactive web pages, and ensuring responsiveness across devices.
- Back-End Development: Help develop server-side logic, build and manage databases, and create APIs.
- Coding & Maintenance: Write clean, maintainable code for both client-side and server-side applications.
- Testing & Debugging: Perform tests, identify bugs, troubleshoot issues, and fix errors in existing code. Develop site documentation and detailed technical specifications.
- Learning & Optimization: Learn new programming languages/tools, optimize application performance, and support overall platform functionality.
End-User Requirements and Support:
- Work closely with senior developers, designers, and project managers to understand requirements and implement features.
- Act as an expert resource to the University functional areas. Meet with clients to identify project requirements, site enhancements and maintenance. Serve as a project leader for small and moderate-sized projects.
- Assists in web site design; Authors complex web pages.
Required Qualifications
Education and Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a computer science or other technically-related field; OR at least four years of experience supporting website infrastructure and services in a highly scalable enterprise-level framework; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills:
o Proficient with SQL, database programming, tuning and design, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and at least one back-end language (e.g., Python, Node.js, PHP).
o Experience with WordPress.
Experience: Basic understanding of the full development lifecycle.
Attributes:
o Eagerness to learn, strong attention to detail, and teamwork ability.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to communicate with clients at all levels.
o Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management skills.
- Knowledge of React, Java, ASP, PHP, C# and AJAX a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, NGINX, and Jenkins

Salary
Starting annual salary range is $47,000-$53,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
