Senior Employment Counsel

Our client, a global technology company known for innovation and a dynamic workplace culture, is seeking a Senior Employment Counsel to provide practical, business-focused employment law guidance across the organization. This role will handle a wide range of employment matters, including litigation, employee relations, discrimination and harassment claims, and California wage and hour issues, while partnering directly with HR and business leaders. The successful candidate will combine strong employment law expertise with exceptional communication skills, translating complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice for stakeholders at all levels. This is an excellent opportunity for a law firm attorney looking to move in-house or an experienced employment counsel seeking broad exposure and meaningful impact within a sophisticated legal team. Candidates must be licensed in CA and based in the Bay Area or San Diego, as this is a hybrid position.

Responsibilities

• Advise the team on all employment legal matters in assigned business unit(s), covering the entirety of the employment lifecycle from recruiting to separation
• Serve as strategic legal partner for assigned centralized subject matters
• Represent Intuit in employment claims, managing outside litigation counsel as needed
• Support and/or lead special projects and initiatives as needs arise
• Deliver clear, practical, and business-oriented advice to enable smart risk-taking
• Partner closely with Employment Legal team members to drive consistency, share expertise, and deliver coordinated support across client groups
• Build strong cross-functional partnerships and influence senior stakeholders
• Use AI responsibly and proficiently to accelerate work and scale Legal services
  
  

Qualifications

• Significant experience advising on complex global workforce issues
• In-house experience preferred
• Strong employment litigation background
• Comfort using generative AI tools and a willingness to adopt and champion responsible AI practices within the Legal function
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others in a team environment
• Ability to serve as a strategic advisor and influence successful outcomes with minimal supervision
• Excellent in-house judgment and ability to balance legal risk with business objectives
• Clear and concise communicator, with experience interfacing with senior executives
• JD and active bar membership (California preferred)
• Strong personal ethical code and integrity; deep respect for privacy and confidentiality
  
  

Expected salary for this exempt role is $227,000 - $307,000, commensurate with experience, training, skills, qualifications, and other market factors.
