What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-time English Faculty position at Truett McConnell University?
Position Summary: This is a 12-month teaching position focused upon Freshmen composition classes as
well as literature surveys and other upper-level literature and creative writing courses.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
- Teach EN 101 Composition and EN 102 Composition and Literature
- Teach 200 level literature survey courses
- Teach upper-level English and Creative Writing
- Actively participate in the assessment of the English aspects of the Core Curriculum as well as
- the overall English degree program
- Work with counterparts in the Schools of Communication and Education to coordinate English and Literature components and content that are parts of their degree programs
- Promote the English and the Humanities degree programs
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
• Required – Master’s degree in English
• Preferred – Terminal degree in the field
Work related experience:
Evidence of teaching effectiveness is required. The individual filling this position must be an active
Christian, fully supportive of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and the goals and objectives of the
institution. The successful candidate must teach from a Christian Worldview and set a Christian example
for students.
