- Effectively utilize an electronic medical record.
- Assist with creating and sending invoices.
- Process payments and reconcile accounts.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies/claim denials.
- Assist clients with accounts and collect payment.
- Monitor reports weekly to ensure payment and processing of claims.
- Assist with checking eligibility, including sending and retrieving electronic files.
- Assist with reviewing and sending client statements.
- Complete monthly reports for percentages of claim denials, claim rejections, and clean claims.
- Conceptualize processes and understand complexities across many roles within the agency.
- Prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to be very organized, detail-oriented, and work well under stress.
- Function effectively as a member of a team that may include behavioral health and primary care providers, consumers, and family members.
- Understand how trauma affects an individual and know effective ways to respond to individuals who have experienced.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience with medical billing and/or accounting is preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in computer skills; Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet.
- Should be knowledgeable with multiple payers including commercial, state, and county.
- Training and/or experience with insurance companies preferred.
