TrueNorth Community Services is seeking an Assistant Director, Heat & Energy Programs to help lead our emPower division, supporting Michigan residents facing energy and water insecurity. This leadership role partners closely with the Division Director to ensure strong operations, compliance, and community impact across state- and federally-funded programs.
What You'll Do
- Support day-to-day operations of the emPower Heat & Energy Division
- Help manage major grants including MEAP and Local Water Utility Affordability (LWUA)
- Supervise the emPower Process Manager and support staff development
- Assist with budgets, financial monitoring, reporting, and grant compliance
- Lead external program communications in collaboration with the communications team
- Represent TrueNorth in regional and state work groups, partnerships, and advocacy efforts
- Step in to manage the division in the Director's absence as needed
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit administration, human services, business, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Leadership experience in nonprofit or human services programs
- Grant management and reporting experience
- Staff supervision experience
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google tools, CRM/databases, and virtual meeting platforms
