Trueline’s client, a well-established full-service law firm in northern New England, is seeking a Transactional Attorney to join their office in southern Maine. This role offers a platform to lead and expand a transactional practice, with expectations for eventual partnership and growing client responsibilities.
What You’ll Do as the Transactional Attorney
Advise clients (from small businesses to institutional lenders) on business formation, governance, M&A, and general contract matters
Handle commercial and residential real estate work: acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing, and development deals
Structure and close financing transactions for borrowers and lenders (commercial and residential)
Counsel clients on operational matters, risk mitigation, compliance, and client-facing advisory services
Manage your docket with autonomy while collaborating with firm colleagues, with a pathway to leadership and partnership
Must-Haves as the Transactional Attorney
JD from an accredited law school and active Maine Bar membership (or eligibility)
5–10 years of solid transactional practice experience
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
Ability to juggle independent work with teamwork, handling multiple matters effectively
Strong client-service orientation and relationship-building mindset
Nice-to-Haves as the Transactional Attorney
Portable business or client relationships
Experience in a full-service or regional firm environment
Prior real estate finance or development deal experience
Familiarity with Maine and New England regulatory, land-use, or municipal law
