Creditors' Rights & Collections Paralegal
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA (remote WITHIN Chicago, Iowa, and Minneapolis areas)

Our client is a respected, locally owned Iowa law firm seeking a Creditors' Rights & Collections Paralegal to join its expanding team. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a high-volume collections practice while working directly with an experienced attorney in a collaborative, supportive environment.

What You'll Do:
- Manage creditors' rights and collections matters from intake through resolution
- Communicate professionally with debtors while ensuring compliance with FDCPA requirements
- Draft legal documents including complaints, garnishments, affidavits, discovery, summary judgment motions, praecipes, and related pleadings
- Prepare payment plans, settlements, and other collection-related documentation
- Maintain case files and deadlines within the firm's case management system
- Coordinate court filings and hearing or trial preparation
- Process mail, deposits, remittances, and other administrative responsibilities supporting the collections practice
- Work closely with the attorney to ensure matters move efficiently and clients receive exceptional service
What We're Looking For:
- 5 years of paralegal or legal assistant experience
- Experience in creditors' rights, collections, civil litigation, insurance subrogation, recovery, or a related legal practice
- Strong drafting skills and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active files and deadlines
- Professional communication skills and a client-service mindset
- Ability to work independently while taking ownership of a broad range of responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with creditors' rights or collections litigation
- Familiarity with CLS (Collection-Master/Vertican), Q-Law, JST, or similar legal case management platforms
- Experience with WordPerfect is a plus
- Experience preparing garnishments, discovery, affidavits, summary judgment motions, and related pleadings
