Job Overview
The Senior Director of HR Consulting provides efficient and effective HR consulting services to clients and provides strategic direction and oversight to our team of HR consultants. The position also drives business growth and infrastructure, by creating and implementing streamlined and effective internal operating procedures as well as attracting and onboarding new clients.
Key Responsibilities
· Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, to understand their unique needs, and provide tailored HR solutions that are efficient, effective and based on HR best practices.
· Hire, mentor, and develop a team of HR consultants to ensure successful delivery of HR consulting services.
· Develop and implement HR strategies that support clients’ business goals and improve organizational performance.
· Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of HR projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
· Develop and maintain relationships with referral partners, local businesses, and executive leaders, to maintain current clients and develop new business opportunities.
· Conduct new client introductory meetings, evaluating their HR needs and identifying prospective solutions. Draft and send proposals and related new client documents.
· Ensure that HR consulting services comply with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices. Plan and participate in compliance webinars for clients and other participants.
· Develop and deliver HR related training for clients, HR professionals, and local businesses.
· Develop internal HR consulting infrastructure, including templates, forms, sample materials, and guidance information for clients and the team of consultants.
· Prepare documents, reports, and data for clients and other consultants.
· Stay current with HR trends and innovations to provide cutting-edge HR solutions.
· Participate in marketing and client development activities.
· Partner with owners/management on the strategic direction of the business and support initiatives for staffing, client development, and internal operating efficiency.
· Other duties as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree required. Education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including consulting or HRBP/Director-level roles required.
· Prior consulting or client-facing experience preferred.
· HR certification (SHRM-SCP/PHR/SPHR) preferred.
· Labor relations and/or municipal HR experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Exceptional communication, executive presence, and relationship-building skills.
· Strong leadership, team management and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to develop and implement strategic HR initiatives.
· Proven project management skills.
· Expertise in change management and organizational development.
· Analytical skills to interpret data and make informed decisions.
· Strong expertise in HR compliance, employee relations, organizational development, and talent strategy.
· Deep familiarity with New York State and Federal employment laws.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Working Conditions
· Hybrid/remote work environment, working a combination of remote days, in office days and time onsite at clients.
· Position requires travel to client locations as needed.
· Must be able to drive, travel, walk, stand, sit, type, and communicate effectively.
· Position requires long periods of sitting or standing, working on a computer.
· May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
Compensation and Benefits
· Salary of $110,000-$145,000 annually (depending on qualifications and experience).
· Annual bonus based on business and individual performance.
